From AFLC President Elden Nelson:

·         Two of our pastor families have experienced the loss of parents in the month of July.  On Friday, July 23, Pastor Duane (Joan) Matz’s family, laid to rest Joan’s father, Mr. Daniel Bengs.  Mr. Bengs had been living with Duane and Joan.  Then on Friday, July 31 services were held in Tulsa, OK for Carolyn Brennan, mother of Pastor John Brennan of Melvin, IL.  We extend to these two families our deepest sympathy and pray that the Lord will be their strength and comfort.

·         Our office continues to receive calls from pastors and congregations that are interested in learning about the AFLC.  There is much unrest in many places and it is our goal to be available to listen, to share information and materials, and to pray for those that find it necessary to seek a different affiliation.  Please pray with me that our hearts and voices will be true to Him and His Word in all the contacts we receive.

Please pray for these congregational prayer requests.

  1. In Faith with Thanksgiving. We read in I John 5:14 "This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us." Peter writes in II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some men count slackness; but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
  2. For the Salvation of Souls. Therefore when we pray for the salvation of souls, we can be sure that we are praying in God's will. (John 14:13) When we keep this in mind, God will win the lost and He will be glorified in the fruit He wins.
  3. For God to be Glorified!
  4. For Revival. Pray for deep conviction of sin and a spirit of repentance in every life. The evangelization of those outside the church cannot be separated from the rekindling of devotion of the Christians within it. Pray for love and unity in the body of Christ.
  5. For Christians to be surrendered to the Lord, bold in witnessing, faithful in service, and motivated by love for Christ and concern for souls.
  6. For Satan to be Bound (Mark 3:27). Come with submission to the authority of Christ (James 4:7), protection by the blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11), and praying in the name of Jesus Christ, God's incarnate son (I John 4:1-4, John 14:14).
  7. For the Evangelist to be inspired in his preparation and study of the Word and to be empowered by the Holy Spirit in preaching the Truth of God's Word.
  8. For your Congregation and Pastor, workers, organizations and activities.
  9. Pray that the people in our community would hear the gospel message and heed God's call. That their lives would be changed.
  10. Pray that the power of God would be realized by His people and stir them to action.
  11. For hearts devoted to pray for others and a willingness to invite others to come with us.
  12. For the Lord to work the desire in many hearts to come to the services.
  13. Pray for those sharing their testimonies and special music that all would direct our hearts to Christ.
  14. For those working with the nursery, transportation, ushering and hospitality
  15. Pray for the Spirit of God to work freely in the services that people would be saved and believers would be strengthened in Christ.
  16. Pray for the Special Services, for the youth, ladies luncheon and business persons' breakfast, for many to attend, and the Spirit of God to work freely in each life.
  17. We should pray about every detail of our personal and congregational life. We must expect God to answer our prayers. (Mark 11:24)
