Food for the Soul

"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never Thirst.'"

- John 6:35

Think of all the different varieties of bread available at the supermarket. There is the plain white kind and the healthy loaves with all the natural ingredients. Bread is the most basic food in most cultures to provide us with life and health. Because He knows what we need, Jesus teaches us to ask, "Give us this day our daily bread."

Jesus Himself is bread--food for the soul. He invites us to come to Him to be satisfied. We ought to be careful not to make this more complicated than Jesus does. He simply tells us to come to Him. It doesn't take much expertise or lots of time; we don't need to dress up or go through a whole bunch of steps. Just come to Jesus.

We come home or to work or church with our feet. We come to Jesus with our hearts. Coming to Jesus means that we trust Him, that we put the confidence of our hearts in Him for our spiritual lives, now and forever. He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." Believe that in Jesus Christ you have fellowship with Almighty God, that you are accepted in spite of your many sins. Come to Jesus by receiving the free salvation that He purcashed with His blood and extends to you.

This coming to Jesus is the food that gives life to your soul.
